Cavan and Leitrim Railways
The Cavan & Leitrim Railway is located in the village of Dromod. The beautifully restored original station building acts as the visitor centre and therefore is your first taste of your Cavan & Leitrim Railway experience!
As part of your visit you will enjoy a trip by train along the restored section of the narrow gauge (3 ft) track (1 mile return trip). Services are hauled by diesel and on occasion steam locomotives.
Our knowledgeable staff will ensure that you enjoy your visit and provide you with interesting and story of the Railway’s history and the work in progress to restore further sections of the Cavan & Leitrim Railway.
The extensive yard and adjacent sheds house an array of locomotives, rolling stock and vintage motor vehicles as well as a unique collection of Irish army guns and vehicles. The original locomotive shed has been completely refurbished and is now a hive of activity.
All in all a visit to the Cavan & Leitrim is the perfect way to gain a greater appreciation of this enterprising little railway, past, present and future.
